Robyn Alsop, MA

Program Assistant

Robyn Alsop is a Program Assistant with the Butler Institute for Families at the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver. As a member of the Consultation and Capacity Building team, she is a team member for a Comprehensive Organizational Health Assessment (COHA) being conducted for a regional child welfare agency in Tennessee.  She also works on the Western Workforce Project and the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute (NCWWI) project. As part of NCWWI, Robyn conducts literature searches for resources to be screened and entered into the NCWWI Private Gateway database, in addition to developing research bibliographies that address child welfare workforce issues. Other duties include data collection (quantitative and qualitative), developing online surveys, data analysis, report writing, and copy editing of project deliverables.

Robyn has over 30 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, including 14 years at the Children’s Division of the American Humane Association (AHA) as Librarian/Managing Editor, where she also served as a team member for evaluation studies. Robyn managed AHA’s collection of state child welfare policy and procedure manuals, assuring that information was current for users. While at AHA, she was the editor of Protecting Children, AHA’s professional journal for child welfare professionals.

Prior to joining the Butler Institute in 2012, Robyn was a Research Associate/Study Director for over 10 years at Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL), where she coordinated several randomized control trials in the K-12 field, supported by federal and state funding, as well as through foundation grants. A member of the research and evaluation team, she served in many roles, including site liaison to schools/districts involved in multiple research and evaluation studies across the U.S. She coordinated site visits, working closely with district administrators, principals, and teachers. In addition to developing online surveys for data collection, she also collected data through onsite testing of students, conducting focus groups, classroom observations, and interviews.

Robyn received her master’s degree in librarianship and information management from the University of Denver, and her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and English from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
