Project Overview
The Community Infant Program is a preventive-intervention service whose aim is to improve parent-child health outcomes, promote positive parent-child relationships and prevent child abuse and neglect. Home visiting services are provided to families from pregnancy through early childhood. CIP contracted with the University of Denver’s Butler Institute for Families to evaluate the program and to create ongoing program and evaluation monitoring tools.
Project Timeframe/Years: 2009-2011
Project Summary:
The Butler Institute worked collaboratively with the CIP team to develop an evaluation plan with a strong longitudinal design, develop and selected outcome measures; conduct extensive literature review; develop an electronic automated data collection reminder system; provide coaching and capacity building to the team to collect, enter, and monitor data. BI analyzed and reported evaluation findings. Results indicate significant project outcomes, including improvements in parenting skills, post-natal depression and anxiety, home environment and child safety.
